GEORGE TOWN: Christchurch mass shooting victim Rahimi Ahmad is showing signs of recovery.

Family members of the 39-yearold, who was shot in his stomach and spine, were informed of this by medical officers attending to him.

Rahimi’s mother, Rokiah Mohammad, 65, and his elder brother, Rosdi, 42, arrived in Christchurch yesterday and were taken to the hospital to see him.

They were accompanied by state Caring Society and Welfare Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh and Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Aziz Mahathir, who were representing the Penang government.

They were met upon arrival by Rahimi’s wife, Nor Azila Abd Wahid.

Azrul said: “We were told that Rahimi is showing signs of improvement. The doctors said he looks better today (yesterday) compared with yesterday (Saturday). However, he needs to undergo surgeries.”

He said they visited Mohd Tarmizi Shuib and Mohd Nazril Hisham Omar, who were treated for gunshot wounds.

“Alhamdullilah, both are conscious. We were told that they too are recuperating from their injuries but need follow-up surgeries as well.

“When we visited Nazril, his wife, Associate Professor Dr Zurinawati Mohi, had just arrived,” he said, adding that they were worried about Tarmizi’s son, Mohd Haziq Mohd Tarmizi, 17, who was missing.

Azrul called on Malaysians to pray for victims of the shooting.
