Great exposure for young guns

-

a brilliant 2018, Malaysia’s national bowlers will finally begin their campaign this season at the Brunswick Euro Challenge in Munich, Germany this week.

And for the first time, the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) will be sending a 21-member squad, including backup and national youth bowlers.

According to MTBC secretary general Maradona Chok, the national body want to raise the standards of their second stringers, so they could catch up faster with their more fancied elite teammates.

“This is the biggest squad we are sending in the hope the backup squad get all the opportunity to bring their game up to the level of our elite.

“The team will start bowling on Tuesday (tomorrow) and I really hope they have a great outing,” said Maradona.

The only bowler who did not make the trip yesterday is Rafiq Ismail who is currently in the United States playing in the US Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour.

The Malaysian bowlers are expected to face stern challenges from at least 400 bowlers.

Only the top 64 bowlers with the best six-game series will make the cut for the tournament proper on Sunday.

Despite not playing in any tournament since the start of the year, MTBC are confident the national bowlers can come good, especially after regular internal rolloffs during training to keep them sharp.
