SOP for conversion of naturalised players
Telekom Malaysia’s (TM) decision to discontinue its M-League sponsorship, the telecommunications giant will serve out its contract as national team sponsor until 2020.
FA of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Amin said: “TM will continue sponsoring the national team. The contract expires in 2020.
“TM may have discontinued their partnership with the Malaysia Football League (MFL), but they are still with us,” said Hamidin, adding that TM have been the national team sponsor since 2005.
Hamidin also disclosed that the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the conversion of naturalised players will be tabled at the association’s executive committee (exco) meeting on March 30 in Penang.
The former FAM secretary-general, who was elected as the vicepresident of the Asean Football Federation on Sunday, said: “The SOP will be revealed after it is endorsed.
“After it has been done, we will meet all the concerned parties, including the government and MFL to explain the procedures involved in naturalising players,” he noted.
Hamidin is also expected to be nominated for the Asian Football Confederation vice-president and exco posts.
“The nomination period closes on April 6, and I am expected to be nominated for two posts. However, I will only contest for one post, most likely for exco.
“I will discuss this with the concerned parties. Being at AFC will help in achieving our F:30 roadmap,” Hamidin added.
