New centre to pool UCSI talents
UCSI University unveiled its new Employment and Co-Op Placement (Co-Op) centre to address job placements and industrial training of its students.
After operating for more than a decade from its student affairs department, the centre will continue to provide integrated services to all UCSI students while, at the same time, empower them with the right mind set and skills.
Launched recently by UCSI group founder and chief executive officer Datuk Peter Ng, UCSI University vice-chancellor and president Professor Datuk Dr Khalid Yusoff, and UCSI Consulting Group chief executive officer Raj Kumar, the Co-Op centre will work with the industry in providing talents and consultation.
“We are indeed very grateful for the support and commitment of all our industry partners here for being with us in moving this agenda, and shaping the future together for the betterment of all.
“With industry intelligence and surveillance, this employment centre will provide various means and information to our graduating students, such as profiling and talent assessment, career consultation and placement, CV and cover letter review, interview tips and techniques, and even grooming advice,” he added.
Co-Op had placed students at various companies in Malaysia and across the globe. To date, it has established partnerships with more than 4,200 employers.
Through Co-Op, students will have the opportunity to experience two months of work while studying. Upon graduation, a UCSI student would have gained six to eight months of work experience.
As the central provider of employment support services, Co-Op offers a model of operation to provide employers with the best and brightest that UCSI has to offer.
At the launch, a forum titled “Employers’ Forum: Insights on talent requisitions in current hiring market” discussed issues, solutions and trends in talent requisition.
Panelists were Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd human resource executive Andrew Peters, Vinda Malaysia Sdn Bhd human resource director for Southeast Asia Clayton Tan and Averis Sdn Bhd operations lead Dang Cheong Lee.
