HEITECH PADU’S VR TECH GENERATING INTEREST
Simulated Interactive Maintenance Aids is cost effective, allows training on-site
HEITECH Padu Bhd (HPB) has received a positive number of inquiries for its Simulated Interactive Maintenance Aids (Sima), a virtual reality (VR) training system, from both local defence agencies and an automotive company.
Its executive vice-president (risk management and corporate services), Salmi Nadia Mohd Hilmey, said the interest in Sima was driven by the fact that the solution was cost effective and provides VRsimulated training on-site.
“The virtual training solution by Sima eliminates the need to send staff and personnel for training, and all necessary training can be carried out via virtual simulation,” she told the New Sunday Times at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima) 2019.
Salmi said Sima presented all components of a weapon system, in digital format, which were critical for both operation and maintenance for the defence industry.
“For the automotive sector, we are working with a company on a customised Sima solution.”
Sima features interactive 3D modelling that demonstrates, and elaborates on, operational principles, conducts theory and practical platforms, and troubleshooting exercises and competency tests.
It is also customisable for other industries, such as heavy machineries, transportation, marine and aviation.
HPB also offers an extensive range of products and solutions that include modelling and simulation for training, planning and real-time operational requirements, customised application developments, integration for command and control systems, as well as ICT security services.
These solutions are not limited to the defence industry, but are also customisable for commercial applications.
Salmi said HPB, with its new vision and mission, would continue to provide e-solutions for local government agencies, such as the Immigration, Customs, Road Transport and National Registration Departments, and government hospitals.
“Currently, we have 10 ongoing IT maintenance contracts with the Royal Malaysian Air Force for the Sukhoi fighter jets, which will be expiring in 2020.
“We are also actively bidding for several other contracts from the Malaysian armed forces, but these are still in the early stages,” she said, adding that 15 per cent of the company’s solutions were tendered to the defence industry.
Besides Sima, HPB also highlighted two other solutions at Lima, which ended yesterday. They were the Asset Readiness Management and Monitoring System (ARMMS) and the Intergrated Training & Tactical Command Control System (ITTACS).
ARMMS provides day-to-day management and long-term planning requirements of any mission and operation, be it on air, ground or sea, to improve operation efficiencies.
ITTACS provides military training for newly promoted commanders, integrating into tactical command control by conducting mission planning, rehearsing and reappraisals of missions.
