Hotel & Spa presents a new beginning with its Grand Ballroom, meeting and functions rooms spread across three levels, pre-function areas and washrooms refreshed, after going through a major refurbishment, including enhanced facilities and technology upgrades.

Sunway Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality division of Malaysian conglomerate Sunway Group, announced that the project on its flagship 5-star hotel took 4 months which facilitated a RM54 million transformative journey and is part of the group’s redevelopment plans for its hospitality division.

“We are very excited to now offer a completely refreshed venue for our clientele and guests, which includes a very chic event space with advanced technology and upgraded amenities, ushering in a sophisticated hotel experience for various type of events,” said Roger Marcz, cluster general manager of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

“For the past 22 years, we have played host to numerous local and international corporate events, meetings and social celebrations, and we are delighted to be adding a new chapter to our story, especially of our iconic Grand Ballroom, a timeless space like no other. We look forward to continuing to create exceptional experiences for our guests and further reinforce this iconic event venue.”

The concept and inspiration to develop “function spaces of the future to create masterpiece moments” came from months of customer focus group feedback, data insights and design simulations.

In continuing to elevate guests experience and staying relevant to the fast changing consumer tastes and needs, the complete makeover brings an unprecedented level of meticulous care and detailing, injecting a grandeur, sophistication and a modern attitude into its space.

The 2,266 square feet ballroom overlooking the lagoon and Sunway City has a new luxurious palette of colours in hues of gold, bronze, platinum and a tinge of royal blue, with contemporary textures and bold geometrical patterns, used dramatically on the wall, carpeting and ceiling. Grand crystal dome lights with smart lighting system runs through the ballroom, including the vast ballroom foyer — in addition to the natural light that shines through the floor-to-ceiling windows, giving it a completely different scene during the day and night.

The pillarless Grand Ballroom features a dramatic 30 foot-high ceiling and a grand built-in elevated stage equipped with high definition LED screen backdrop, alongside four (4) additional LED screens located on the front and side walls off the ballroom for guests to enjoy an unobstructed view from every angle. Ideal for the most prestigious banquets as well as intimate functions, the ballroom can seat 2,000 guests in a banquet setting, 2,700 guests in a theatre setting and 1,400 guests in a classroom setting. It also has divisible partitioning features that can split the ballroom into three (3) separate rooms to cater for smaller event needs.

On Nov 15, 2018, The

Economist’s Sustainability Summit Asia was the first event to be held in the Grand Lagoon Ballroom since its re-opening. The event saw more than 150 scientists, business leaders, government and NGO representatives, entrepreneurs and academics engage in a day of high-level discussions. In 2019, the ballroom is already in full gear to bring events to greater heights with multiple international and local functions, weddings and banquet events confirmed.

Perfect for business events, intimate functions and social gatherings, thirty-two versatile column-free meeting and function rooms measuring 30 to 344 square metres spread across three levels of the hotel has also been transformed with new carpeting, wall coverings, lightings and furniture, including its pre-function spaces and common coffee break areas. The use of wood and fabric, including wall coverings made from jute, an environmentally friendly natural product, exudes an inviting air of warmth and cosiness.

Modern gadgetry and high-end technology has been fitted to give small meetings, brainstorms and off-site discussions or presentations an extra edge. These includes built-in LED projection screens or an 86” interactive touchscreen TV with screen sharing and built-in whiteboard function which supports multiple devices, as well as the functionality to save the whiteboard content into a USB memory device.

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa has numerous packages for every occasion. From weddings, conferences, cocktails and charity events to meetings, birthday parties and social gatherings, organisers can be rest assured that every aspect and element is given due importance in accordance to preferences and expectations.

To further enhance the new function space, guests can also look forward to a wide range of new banquet menu options for meetings as well as dinner events. The food & beverage professionals and a brigade of chefs, led by Executive Chef Peter Lee, are able to customise a menu based on guests’ taste, preferences and diet.

From local to international flavours, and buffet to serving menus, the new menus will complement the new space for a truly memorable event.
