PRESIDENT RILED UP
Hamidin loses his cool when questioned about position of Hodak
IS there trouble brewing between the FA of Malaysia (FAM) and national Under-19 coach Bojak Hodak?
Yesterday, FAM president Datuk Hamidin Amin got irritated when the media queried him about Hodak’s current status in Gambang.
Hodak was handed a showcause letter by FAM about 10 days ago to explain his recent criticism of the country’s football development system.
The Croatian has asked for more time to respond, and he has been given until the end of next week to submit his written explanation.
“Hodak has breached his contract as a staff (of FAM) and we want him to explain.
“What I know is he has to respond to the showcause letter. The letter is for his conduct and has nothing to do with his team’s performance,” said Hamidin after visiting the Mokhtar Dahari Academy in Gambang yesterday.
When probed further on the issue, Hamidin said: “I wish not to comment more about this... let’s see what happens.”
FAM are angry with Hodak for blaming his team’s disappointing performance at last month’s Sanix Cup in Japan on the country’s poor development structure.
Meanwhile, Hamidin confirmed that he has withdrawn his nomination to contest for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) vice-president’s post (for Asean).
The AFC congress-cum-elections is on Saturday.
Many had speculated he made the decision following the national Under-23 team’s failure to reach the final round of the competition last month.
“It has nothing to do with the performance of our Under-23 team. I withdrew after considering other aspects. I also consulted FAM’s executive committee.
“I have also been nominated for the executive committee position, and I will contest for it,” he added.
