Amrin to leave on May 3

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd (Sime Property) has announced that group managing director (MD) Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin will leave the group on May 3.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company cited the departure as “early cessation of contract”.

Amrin’s contract was to end in August. The announcement comes amid rumours that Amrin is heading to Boustead Holdings Bhd to fill the group MD position, which has been left vacant for three months following the resignation of Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin last year.

Amrin was appointed as Sime Property director on July 12 2017. He was subsequently appointed group MD on August 24, 2017. He was group MD of Media Prima Bhd from 2009 to 2017 before joining Sime Property’s board after the demerger of Sime Darby Bhd.

Prior to that, he was the chief executive officer (CEO) of Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Bhd.

Sime Property said current chief operating officer of township development Datuk Wan Hashimi AlBakri would be acting group CEO position pending the board’s search for a replacement.

Wan Hashimi was the former CEO of Negara Properties (M) Bhd, which is now part of the Sime Property group.

He has been with Sime Property for almost 15 years.

It said Wan Hashimi’s appointment would ensure continuity, allowing the group to execute its strategies and plans already in place with minimal disruption to operations.

“The board would like to record our appreciation to Amrin for his service and contribution to the group,” said Sime Property chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
