MAT SABU: TH WOULD HAVE GONE BANKRUPT
PH govt addressing weaknesses under TH’s previous board
TABUNG Haji (TH) would have continued to suffer severe losses if it was governed by the previous administration, said Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu.
He said under the Pakatan Harapan government, weaknesses under TH’s previous board were addressed.
“There were accusations that TH has been taken over by DAP. If TH was not rescued, it would have gone bankrupt... those who stole from TH were Malays, the ones who put it in dire straits were Malays.
“The company owned by Minister of Finance (Incorporated), which saved (TH), was not (Finance Minister Lim) Guan Eng’s.
“You (the opposition) stole. You practised corruption and you accuse the Chinese... until when do you want to practise such politics? It’s as though we (PH) do not dare to defend Malays,” said Mohamad, who is defence minister,
in his by-election campaign speech in Kampung Mambau here on Sunday.
He said under the PH government, not only were Malays better represented, but other races were also treated fairly.
The opposition’s claims that Malay privileges would be eradicated were false, he added.
“Umno and Pas can only play up racial issues. (During the previous stint of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) many Malay entrepreneurs were created.
“It doesn’t make sense that someone like him (Dr Mahathir) would betray Malays. (PKR president Datuk Seri) Anwar (Ibrahim) and (Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan) Azizah (Wan Ismail) would not sell out Malays.”
He called on voters, especially Malays, not to believe allegations that their interests would not be safeguarded by PH.
The by-election on Saturday sees a four-cornered contest between Dr S. Streram (PH), Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (BN) and two independent candidates, R. Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin.
