Tok Mat dares Negri govt to seize land
SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan has the right to seize land from individuals allegedly given without using proper channels under the previous Barisan Nasional administration.
BN candidate for the Rantau by-election Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said seizures should be carried out if there was a misuse of power.
“I never abused my power during my 14 years as menteri besar.
“Decisions related to land ownerships were made by executive councillors after taking into account various considerations,” he said at the BN command centre here yesterday.
He said the Pakatan Harapan-led state government should launch an investigation into the matter and walk the talk.
“Seize the land if you have proof that there has been noncompliance with procedures.
“The state government has the right to do this.
“Don’t just talk, do it (seize the land).
“I am ready to be investigated if it has proof that I committed wrongdoings.”
State Assembly Speaker Datuk Zulkefly Mohd Omar, during a ceramah held here recently, alleged that Mohamad had given land to his cronies when the latter was menteri besar.
Zulkefly had claimed that landowners did not pay taxes for the land and this had caused the state government losses.
Zulkefly, who is state Parti Amanah Negara chairman, had said the names of the landowners would be revealed in a few days.
“The state government is in talks with Yayasan Negri Sembilan to seize the land.”
