ALL-NEW YARIS LAUNCHED
SEVEN years after the last Yaris was sold, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the authorised importer and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, has introduced an all-new model.
“The last Toyota Yaris sold was a completely built up (CBU) unit from Japan. More than 1,000 Yaris units had been sold at that time. We have decided to reintroduce the Yaris to our model line-up.
“Yaris will be UMW Toyota Motor’s first completely knocked down (CKD) hatchback produced at our new manufacturing plant in Bukit Raja,” said its president Ravindran K. at the
launching ceremony.
Three variants are offered - the Yaris 1.5J, 1.5E, and 1.5G - priced at RM70,888, RM76,888 and RM83,888, respectively.
All variants are powered by the 2NR-FE 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC with Dual VVT-i engine, mated to a seven-speed sport sequential shiftmatic transmission.
Standard equipment available across all variants include LED daytime running light, headlamp with follow-me-home function, smart entry and push-start system, two USB charging ports, rear 60:40 split folding seats, alarm system with cabin sensors and tilt sensor.
The 1.5E and 1.5G variants have the additional 16-inch alloy wheels, LED rear combi lamps, 6.8-inch DVDAVX with USB mirroring, panoramic view monitor, auto fold wing mirror, as well as the Sport and ECO driving mode.
As for the range-topping G variant, it comes fitted with auto air-conditioning, 4.2-inch optitron instrument cluster, rear disc brakes, electrochromic rear view mirror and steering switch.
Meanwhile, the standard safety features available across all variants include seven SRS airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill start assist control, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. All variants have achieved five-star rating for the ASEAN NCAP.
The 1.5E and 1.5G variants are fitted with the blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert and the front digital video recorder with forward collision warning function. However, the rear digital video recorder is an optional accessory for the 1.5E and 1.5G variants.
There are five colours to choose from, which are the Citrus Mica Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Attitude Black, Silver Metallic and Super White II. Every purchase of the Yaris is covered by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
