Be at airport 4 hours before flights, passengers in Colombo told

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and AirAsia passengers flying from Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport have been advised to be at the airport four hours before their scheduled flights.

This was due to the tightened security checks following the Easter bombings on Sunday.

MAS, in a short statement, urged its passengers travelling from the airport to arrive at least four hours before their flight due to heightened security measures.

AirAsia said all flights to and from the airport would be operating as normal.

The low-cost carrier said the company would continue to monitor the situation.

The airline advised passengers departing from Colombo to arrive at least four hours prior to their scheduled flight departure and to anticipate delays at security checkpoints and check-in counters.

It had given options to travel plans for passengers travelling to and from Colombo from Sunday to next Monday, following the blasts.

The options include changing flights to a new travel date on the same route within 30 calendar days from the original flight time without additional cost, or the credit account options where they retain the value of their fare in the AirAsia BIG Loyalty account for future travel with AirAsia.

Travellers, it said, could also opt for a full refund.

“Guests who continue to travel are advised to follow the instructions of our ground staff and airport authorities.

“They are also encouraged to monitor their flight status at airasia.com/flightstatus,” AirAsia said.
