Considered design
A feeding set should easetheprocessfor both the toddler and the adult, and one brand ticks all the right boxes, writes Syida Lizta Amirul Ihsan
SPANISHbrandSuavinex may not be a household name in the country, but its baby products are top-notch in quality and design. They are not made just for these little humans, but take into account the kinds of food toddlers eat and the interaction they have with their utensils.
As a mother, I adore its ergonomic spoon that comes in its feeding set. Shaped like a tiny ladle and designed for baby food and puree, the little spoon in striking blue holds food better than any other baby spoon I have used, making it an indispensable feeding utensil.
The plate and the bowl are substantial in weight so babies cannot easily trip it from an adult’s hand — which happens often with me and my baby. Sometimes my son treats a light feeding bowl like a Frisbee but he couldn’t do it with this one, although he is very fond of the sound he can make when he hits the spoon and bowl together.
I use the plate for pieces of bread that my son feeds himself and he likes it because of the width. The set also comes with a cup with large handles that make it easy to hold, and a non-slip table mat that stops the plate from moving.
ON THE GO
For outings, the brand has The Bentoo combinable dish set that is perfect for carrying around in your bag and makes feeding a baby easier. With enough room for two meals, the lower compartment can be used to transport baby food or purees (and the central compartment is for solid food.
I love this because instead of having to bring two separate containers, two meals can go in here without any risk of one spilling into the other and jeopardising taste. I pack his porridge and smoothie together so during meal time, he can choose which one he wants to have first.
It is completely airtight, which means that there is no risk of food leakage and its size allows it to be held in one hand, leaving the other free to feed your baby.
FROM BOTTLE TO CUP
And for toddlers who are transitioning from bottle to cup, the Suavinex training cup comes with ergonomic design and is made for little hands so it is easy for baby to hold and use.
The non-spill spout cup is also great for toddlers. The spout is rigid, so it cannot be dented by teething. It also comes with removable handles to encourage a toddler to be independent and hold the cup — not handle — with his or her hand.
