Dance away with Van Doorn
DUTCH dance music maestro Sander Van Doorn will be in Genting Highlands tomorrow so expect a night to party away. The renowned electro house and techno music icon is a household name among clubbers. He has thrilled fans at major festivals such as Tomorrowland and the Ultra Music Festival.
Van Doorn, who has three studio albums under his belt, will be performing at Zouk Genting from 9pm.
Born Sander Ketelaars in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Van Doorn began his recording career in 2004, releasing numerous techno hits on Oxygen Recordings.
He became a regular disc jockey at Ibiza’s Judgement Sunday in Spain and the Gallery in London, and was featured on BBC Radio’s Essential Mix in 2006.
He gained recognition as a popular remixer for pop and rock artistes such as the Arctic Monkeys whose hit song When The Sun Goes Down is strongly identified with Van Doorn’s musical talent.
The 40-year-old’s musical style has ranged from house and progressive house during the mid-2000s to more vocal-driven electro-house and EDM (electronic dance music) throughout the 2010s.
His other well-known remixes include Armin Van Buuren’s Control Freak, Tiesto’s Dance4Life, Sia’s The Girl You Lost To Cocaine, and Lady Gaga’s Marry The Night.
Van Doorn established his own label Doorn Records in 2007 and released his debut album Supernaturalistic in 2008 with 13 tracks, on Spinnin’ Records. He won the award for Best Breakthrough DJ at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami, the United States.
His sophomore album Eleve11 came out on Sept 19, 2011.
Van Doorn’s radio shows are hugely popular and are broadcast in more than 80 countries. June 2019 marks his 15th anniversary, and he will be touring 10 countries to commemorate his career milestone.
