MAHB passenger traffic grows 5.6pc in April
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) network of airports, including Istanbul Sabiha Gokchen (ISG) International Airport in Turkey, posted a 5.6 per cent increase in passenger traffic to 11.7 million last month.
MAHB said international traffic grew 6.5 per cent to 5.6 million passengers year-on-year (y-o-y), while domestic traffic increased 4.7 per cent to 6.1 million from the same period a year ago.
Passenger movements in MAHB’s network of airports showed a big increase in the first four months of the year.
In the past 12 months, MAHB’s network of airports registered a 3.5 per cent passenger growth to a record 135 million.
International and domestic aircraft movements registered an increase of 3.9 and 1.1 per cent, respectively, last month over the same period a year ago.
Meanwhile, airports in Malaysia recorded a 6.6 per cent increase y-o-y to 8.8 million passengers last month.
The international sector recorded 4.4 million passengers, or a 2.5 per cent increase, while the domestic sector grew 11.2 per cent to with 4.3 million passengers.
International passenger movements for Asean and non-Asean countries grew 4.3 and 0.8 per cent, respectively, recording 2.2 million passenger movements for each sector.
Overall aircraft movements increased 2.7 per cent last month with international and domestic aircraft movements growing 0.2 and 4.3 per cent, respectively, over the same period last year.
Average load factor was at 76.3 per cent last month, an increase of 0.8 percentage points compared with April last year.
