AmBank targets 600 organisational clients

-

KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank Group is targeting to acquire up to 600 new organisational clients for its JomPAY network this year.

The bank already has some 188 organisational clients using the national bill payment scheme as of the first quarter of this year.

“We are targeting to get 50 new organisational clients each month, which could be in the form of associations, charities, building management and even the small and medium enterprises (SME) to join JomPAY,” said its business banking managing director Christopher Yap yesterday.

“With 188 organisational clients on our JomPAY network we are always looking to increase that. We see this as an initiative in helping Bank Negara Malaysia’s overall objective of making Malaysia a cashless society.”

AmBank had earlier partnered with the Malaysian Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Association (PSLEM) to enable online contributions through JomPAY.

SLE refers to the disease where the patient’s body makes antibodies that attack its own tissues.

“This partnership marks the first charitable organisation in the country to collaborate with us to enable JomPAY payments which would allow the public to easily make online contributions to the association,” said Yap.

PSLEM president Dr Heselynn Hussein hoped by joining JomPay through AmBank the association would begin attracting recurring monthly donors.

Established and operated by Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd, JomPAY is Malaysia’s largest online bill payment service with over 5,013 biller codes.
