A TOUCH OF NOSTALGIA

MODERN-day video games in 4K resolution and insane frame rates that deliver lifelike images are always awesome to look at, but let us remember the humbler days when the lack of processing muscle required creative pixellised 2D sprites to convey a visual idea to the gamer, leaving one’s imagination to get the rest of the job done.

Capcom has had its fair share of video game hits in the past, be it at the arcades or on home consoles. This time around, its Capcom Home Arcade module is a blast from the past that will roll back the years for older gamers.

The Capcom Home Arcade is a plugand-play console that unashamedly sports the giant, plastic Capcom logo with a pair of arcade sticks to entice you into looking for that coin slot as part of your arcade going instinct.

Similar to other micro-consoles like the NES Classic Edition or the PlayStation Classic, the Capcom Home Arcade is attached to a TV set via HDMI where you will then have access to 16 pre-loaded games.

There is no room for expansion or future downloads, and 16 games are all that you get for approximately US$250. Among the available titles are 1944: The Loop Master, Alien vs Predator, Armored Warriors, Capcom Sports Club, Captain Commando, Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, and Eco Fighters. The Capcom Home Arcade has WiFi connectivity that will connect you to a leaderboard so that you know where you stand globally.
