Bank Pembangunan inks agreement with NUCW

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) recently inked a collective agreement with the National Union of Commercial Workers (NUCW), which has benefited 90 clerical and non-clerical employees.

The deal saw a seven per cent salary adjustment, effective July 2016, for the employees.

The staff received an arrear payment of 33 months on April 22, inclusive of salary adjustment, yearly increment, cost of living allowance and bonus.

The Finance Ministry, upon recommendation from the BPMB board of directors, approved the collective agreement in March.

“I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to the Internal Union Committee as the outlined objectives and goals of the collective agreement would not have been achieved without their patience, understanding and cooperation,” said BPMB chairman Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan at the signing ceremony.

She expressed hope for the bank’s union committee members to take the lead in motivating and encouraging their colleagues in enhancing productivity and contributing to the success of BPMB.

Apart from the salary adjustment in the collective agreement, other notable changes include a 12 to 15 per cent increment quantum, a 33 per cent increase in living allowance cost and an increase of 20 to 38 per cent in medical benefits.

The new collective agreement consists of 40 articles instead of 39 articles as in the previous agreement, with changes in 11 articles.

Its duration was also extended from three to five years.
