Met Gala beauty report

-

LAST week stars gathered at the Met Gala, the annual benefit event for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, considered one of the world’s biggest fashion events. Naturally, guests turned up in extravagant outfits according to the theme for the year — Camp: Notes on Fashion, which is based on irony, humour, parody, exaggeration, artifice and pastiche.

Eyebrows were raised when Harry Styles experimented with a feminine look but jaws dropped when Lady Gaga arrived and changed into four different outfits! Talk about extra.

But we’re not here to talk about the outfits, we’re here to discuss the most outstanding (and outlandish!) hair and make-up for the night, starting with well ...

GIGI HADID

This was another celebrity who arrived with dramatic eyes. The supermodel sported spiky white eyelashes which were created with pieces of white feather. Gigi’s make-up artist Erin Parsons said she created the look with a few feathers by cutting them before individually applying one at a time. She finished off the look with a swipe of nude lipstick.

EZRA MILLER

Never thought I’d be doing an overview on male celebrity make-up but Ezra Miller deserved to be talked about because his look was kuh-razy! This actor is known to break convention when it comes to red carpet style, but he took it to the next level at the Met Gala. Not only was his look crazy, it created a dizzying illusion. His make-up artist Mimi Choi created multiple sets of eyes on his face — just writing about this makes me cringe. He also sported a bold red lipstick to go with the look.
