Nurul appointed second CDM for Sea Games
national swimmer Nurul Huda Abdullah, a 22-time Sea Games gold medallist, has been appointed as the second deputy Chef-de-Mission (CDM) for the Philippines Sea Games on Nov 30-Dec 11.
Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin is the CDM, and he will be assisted by National Sports Institute (NSI) chief executive officer Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli and Nurul.
“Megat is an experienced sports administrator who is the Malaysia National Silat Federation (Pesaka) secretary-general,’ said OCM president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria after chairing the umbrella body’s executive board meeting in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
“He will be assisted by Faedzal and Nurul, a former athlete who achieved tremendous success at the Sea Games.
“I believe we have a good combination with these three.
“This will be important as it will be a challenging games for us. We will be competing in 51 sports compared to 39 or 40 previously.
“In terms of logistics, it will also be challenging with three cities (Manila, Subic and Clark) hosting the sports.”
Norza also disclosed that Tan Sri Dr. M. Jegathesan has been replaced by former National Sports Council (NSC) directorgeneral Datuk Mazlan Ahmad in the five-man Sea Games selection committee.
“Considering that Dr Jegathesan spends most of his time in Australia, we have made the decision to switch to Datuk Wira Mazlan,” said Norza.
The other members of the committee, which will next meet on July 22-26, are former OCM secretary general Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, Faedzal, current NSC director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail and Norza.
