Ainul to leave for London on Friday

-

Nine-month-old Ainul Mardhiah Ahmad Safiuddin, who is suffering from Germ Cell Tumour of the mouth, is expected to leave for London for treatment by Friday.

Her father, Ahmad Safiuddin Ahmad Razak, said everything was ready for the journey, with the family only waiting for flight tickets from Malaysia Airlines.

“Malaysia Airlines is also ready to assist us... we just have to wait till there is seat availability. In fact, the two doctors who will accompany us are also ready to go.”

Safiuddin said the two doctors were anaesthetists from private hospitals who were paying their own way to London.

He said United Kingdombased, Malaysian-born surgeon Dr Amalina Che Bakri, who had taken a personal interest in Ainul Mardhiah’s case, had told him that a doctor would be greeting them at the airport in London once they arrive.

However, he declined to say which hospital would be treating his daughter.

Safiuddin said the entire cost of his and his daughter’s trip to London was being taken care of by donations from the public, adding that he and his wife, Nurul Erwani Zaidi, also 24, could not thank everyone enough.

He said he had been told that Ainul Mardhiah would be at risk because of the trip to London, but he and his wife were willing to take that risk to save their child.

“I was told just to fly is a huge risk for Ainul, so I ask everyone to pray that she be kept safe during the flight and that she can be healed.”
