NEW clues have emerged on the location of fugitive businessman Low Taek

Jho, better known as Jho Low.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said police had obtained new evidence on his whereabouts.

“If you ask me whether police have a new sign (clue) on him, yes we do, and I am serious about this.

“We have known about his whereabouts some time ago and we know that people are waiting to know about this case, but we need to be patient.

“Despite us having evidence against him, he continued issuing statements through his lawyers to criticise the government regarding the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue.

“God willing, he will be brought to justice soon,” he said.

Low, who became a fugitive after the general election last year, was regarded as a close acquaintance of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He has been charged in Malaysia with receiving more than US$1 billion (RM4.2 billion) from 1MDB in 2009 and 2011, and in the United States with money laundering. He had denied any wrongdoing through his spokesmen.

Hamid was speaking after visiting the border here on Wednesday. Accompanying him were Kelantan police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan, General Operations Force Eighth Battalion commanding officer Superintendent Ramly Poncho and senior police officers of the state.

Earlier, Hamid spent more than one hour visiting several locations at the border.

This was his first visit to Kelantan after he took over the top cop’s post this month.

Later, Hamid visited the Pasir Mas police station in Lubok Jong. The project, costing about RM63 million, is expected to be completed in September.
