Jorginho confident ‘relaxed’ Sarri will remain at Chelsea

-

Jorginho has said he would be surprised to see boss Maurizio Sarri leave Chelsea, insisting the Italian is “relaxed” after a “positive” first season in charge.

Sarri has led Chelsea to the Europa League final after also securing third place in the Premier League in his first year in charge.

But his relationship with the club’s supporters has soured in recent months and now Sarri is among the names linked with a move to Juventus.

On Wednesday the Italian threatened to quit Chelsea immediately if the outcome of the Europa League final against Arsenal defined his future.

Jorginho, who followed Sarri to Chelsea from Napoli, was asked whether he would move with the manager should he leave west London.

He told Sky Sport Italia: “I have four years on my contract with Chelsea.

“I’d be surprised he did leave, because we are third in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Liverpool, we’re in the Europa League Final and reached the Carabao Cup Final.

“It has been a positive season. Sarri is relaxed, even more so now than in other stages of the campaign.”

Both Chelsea and Arsenal are deep in preparations for next week’s final in Baku, which has been overshadowed by Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s decision not to travel amid political tension between Azerbaijan and his native Armenia.

But Jorginho is trying to focus on the football, insisting: “It’s an international final of a prestigious competition and we are working well to be ready for it.”
