Best time to purchase new Volkswagen hot hatches

VOLKSWAGEN is still in the mood for Merdeka celebration with Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) offering exclusive rebates worth RM2,000 on the two performance hatchbacks, the Golf GTI and Golf R.

The iconic Golf GTI — the pioneer of fast hatchbacks — needs no introduction. It is powered by a potent 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine producing 230PS and 350Nm of torque.

The output is channelled to the front wheels via a 6-speed DSG gearbox.

Apart from its unmistakable honeycomb trimmings, the Golf GTI is equipped with GTI Vienna perforated leather seats, 18-inch Milton Keynes alloy wheels, a large Active Info Display, 8-inch Discover Media, LED headlights with Dynamic Tcornering Lights and LED tail lights with Dynamic Indicator.

The driving experience is served by the Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) and driving mode selection.

The more powerful 290PS, 400Nm Golf R draws its power from the similar but uprated 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine.

But it is mated to a 7-speed wet clutch DSG gearbox 4MOTION allwheel drive system ensuring the power is transmitted effectively.

Featuring subtler styling, the Golf R is fitted with R Vienna perforated leather seats, 19-inch Pretoria alloy wheels, Active Info Display, LED headlights with Dynamic Cornering Lights and LED tail lights with Dynamic Indicators.

On top of that, it gets a larger 9.2-inch Discover Media Pro infotainment system with App-Connect and Gesture Control, as well as progressive steering.

Other models including the Polo, Vento, Golf R-Line, Beetle, Tiguan and Passat are also entitled to savings of up to RM15,000, with Tiguan and Passat coming with five-year free maintenance and low interest rates.
