Another world-class Crown Worldwide facility
Worldwide Group, the world’s largest privately-held group of international relocation, logistics and related services company, has launched its new Crown Records Management facility in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
The new facility adds to Crown Worldwide’s six facilities in Shah Alam, Bandar Baru Enstek, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Johor.
The 2,600m2 first phase of the new facility adds Crown Records Management’s (CRM) capacity in Malaysia to over four million cartons of customer documents.
Crown Worldwide, established here in 1974, stores and manages business records, including files and electronic media for over 1,800 corporate customers in sectors as diverse as financial services, manufacturing, government, legal, healthcare and pharmaceutical.
Founder and chairman James E. Thompson said the group’s business in Malaysia has grown tremendously in recent years, with current volume of business and expanding client base driving its investment of RM40 million into this latest purpose-built facility.
Thompson said the Johor facility will enable the group to offer its full suite of CRM services and meet the most exacting risk and compliance requirements from customers, as well as offer greater efficiencies and better service delivery.
He said the federal and state governments are committed to promoting growth and further development in Iskandar Puteri and the group is keen to be part of this expansion.
With 157 local employees, the group aims to grow its business and workforce in Malaysia.
Iskandar Puteri, formerly known as Nusajaya, houses Kota Iskandar — the Johor government’s administrative centre with federal and state government offices.
Within Iskandar Puteri there is also Puteri Harbour — an integrated waterfront development with a 13.5km coastline; Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters (SiLC), a managed industrial park for “clean” industries; Afiat Healthpark, a hub for modern, traditional and complementary medicine, healthcare and wellness; and, Gerbang Nusajaya, the economic and business engine of Iskandar Puteri.
“With a strategic location easily accessed via excellent local transportation infrastructure, we are able to position ourselves as the leading choice in the south of Malaysia and provide an attractive solution for customers in Singapore,” said Thompson.
Thompson said the facility in Iskandar Puteri is a world-class records centre, with innovative features like a thermal skin in the building to protect contents against heat and humidity naturally, a natural airflow system within the facility, a radiant heat barrier roof, rain water harvesting tanks and LED lighting on timers with power-saving sensors.
In addition, it has secure site access to all parts of the facility, a 24-hour infrared motion detection camera surveillance both internal and external, a 24-hour on-site security as well as health and safety systems.
This facility is a non-certified green building and is modelled after the group’s facility in Bandar Baru Enstek.
