Body of PKNS worker killed in Turkey bus crash to be flown back today
THE remains of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) employee Azalan Miswan, 50, who was killed in an accident in Turkey on Wednesday, is expected to arrive home today.
PKNS corporate communications manager Mahfizul Rusydin Abd Rashid said Azalan’s body was handed over to the Malaysian embassy in Ankara at 2am (Turkish time) on Friday for final rites, which included bathing, enshrouding and funeral prayers.
“The remains will then be flown to Istanbul before being repatriated to Malaysia.
“Azalan’s remains, which would be accompanied by his wife and child, will depart Istanbul at 1.30am (Turkish time) and is expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on the same day at 6.30pm.”
Mahfizul said upon arrival, the remains would be transported to Surau An-Nur in Section 20, Shah Alam, Selangor, for prayers.
Azalan is expected to be buried after Isyak at the Section 21 Muslim cemetery.
Four other Malaysians were seriously injured in the accident.
They are receiving treatment at Afyonkarahisar Hospital in Afyonkarahisar city, Turkey.
On Thursday, PKNS chief operating officer Norita Mohd Sidek said the accident occurred after one of the bus’ tyres burst.
The accident, which occurred in Afyonkarahisar city, saw 10 other Malaysians injured, including four seriously.
There were 35 Malaysian passengers on board the tour bus, which was en route from Pamukkale to Cappadocia, Turkey.
