TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM) yesterday signed a memorandum of agreement with Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, which will see further expansion of cloud services offered by TM One.

TM group chief executive officer Datuk Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin said with the collaboration, its TM Cloud Alpha services were set to enable next-generation innovation for customers.

He said TM was the only player in Malaysia with its own core data centres and cloud infrastructure with full data residency, locality and sovereignty and subject to the country’s regulations.

“With these digital infrastructure and services, we can offer a complete data residency and locality in Malaysia.

“Combining cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and the most advanced cybersecurity practices and technologies for our cloud operations, TM is striding strongly forward as the only Malaysianowned end-to-end cloud infrastructure service provider.

“Holistically, we are an ideal cloud service provider for the nation and our partnership with global partners such as Huawei is yet another testament of TM’s prominent role as the enabler of digital Malaysia,” he said.

TM One executive vice-president and chief executive officer Ahmad Taufek Omar said the collaboration would strengthen its position to become the leading cloud service provider and cloud aggregator in the market and in the country.

“This collaboration with Huawei Malaysia is another milestone for TM One as we now have full cloud capability as a core offering.

“It also provides TM One the opportunity to capture growth in Malaysia, which is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 27 per cent in the next five years.

“More smart services and Big Data analytics solutions based on AI capabilities can also be introduced to the market, powered by Cloud Alpha,” he said.
