Kedah Medical Centre resumes operations

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kedah Medical Centre (KMC) resumed operations yesterday after being shut down over Covid-19 infections.

KMC medical director Datuk Dr Kamaruzaman Ali said the resumed operations include the accident and emergency unit, outpatient clinic, admissions and inpatient, as well as operation and surgical services.

“KMC has resumed operations upon the completion of a thorough cleaning process throughout the hospital and after environmental sample tests taken from 50 areas in the hospital came back negative (no evidence of infection).

“Preliminary detection of Covid19 cases only involved operation and surgical services with no infection in other departments.”

He said 636 KMC employees and doctors had been checked and given a clean bill of health.

He said KMC resumed operations after the state Health Department was satisfied with the commitment, management and preventive measures taken by the hospital to curb Covid-19 infections, as per the guidelines set by the Health Ministry.

KMC had suspended operations on Sept 10 following the confirmation of Covid-19 transmission in one department.

Personnel who had contact with infected patients were identified and placed under quarantine and supervision by the Health Ministry.

Dr Kamaruzaman said patients were advised to make an appointment for treatment or consultation with specialists.

He said patients could get their medication through the Top-up Medication Home Delivery Service by contacting 011-1334 8280 from 9am to 5pm.
