Patriotic posts via Snapchat lenses

- Hanum Afandi

SNAPCHAT has given a patriotism flavour to its lenses in conjunction with the Merdeka and Hari Malaysia months.

Its Southeast Asia’s first official lens creator, Eswar Mohan, has created Merdekathemed Lenses — Bingo Lens, MY Shades Lens, Merdeka Quiz Lens and Find It — for users to showcase their love for the country.

The Bingo Lens is based on templates shared during the MovementControl Order (MCO). It lets users reminisce by circling a randomised box option filled with their childhood Merdeka month memories.

The MY Shades Lens is inspired by ExAR’s Floral Shades Lens and Jalur Gemilang-inspired Merdeka attire.

The Merdeka Quiz Lens, meanwhile, tests your knowledge of Merdeka and Malaysia Day. There are 10 questions which users have to answer in five seconds.

The game Find it bears resemblance to I Spy, with users scoring points by tapping the screen.

Besides that, users nowhavetheopportunity to create their ownlenses using Lens Studio, a free desktop app for creating AR Snapchat lenses.

“As a Lens Creator, I have always been inspired by other Lens Creators from around the world who create tutorials to share their knowledge in AR.

“I would love to raise awareness of what Snap’s Lens Studio platform is capable of and the opportunities it offers. This is one of the reasons why my business, ExAR, started — wewantothers to experience the incredible world of AR,” said Mohan during arecent virtual Snapchat lens masterclass.
