LAGENDA, MAJUPERAK IN JV

Companies’ subsidiaries to build affordable homes in Perak

- KUALA LUMPUR

MAJUPERAK Holdings Bhd and Lagenda Properties Bhd, formerly known as DBE Gurney Resources Bhd, will jointly undertake an affordable housing project in Perak.

MajuPerak said its subsidiary, Tenaga Danawa Sdn Bhd, had signed a joint development and shareholders agreement with Lagenda Properties’ wholly-owned Taraf Nusantara Sdn Bhd to develop the project in Tapah.

Located in Mukim Batang Padang, the project will be undertaken on four parcels of land measuring 93ha.

It will see 1,374 single-storey terrace houses and 264 doublestorey shophouses being developed together with an office building, said MajuPerak group chief executive officer Nizran Noordin in a statement yesterday.

The houses will be priced from RM152,000 to RM172,000 per unit and the shophouses from RM284,000 to RM299,000 per unit.

“We stand by our mandate to develop affordable homes in Perak.

“Leveraging Tenaga Danawa’s expertise in this segment coupled with Taraf Nusantara’s solid track record in developing largescale housing projects, this partnership is a testament to our ongoing efforts to contribute to the development of the state and to benefit the people of Perak.

“With an estimated gross development value of RM295 million, we are optimistic about the outlook ahead, particularly in the property segment over the long-term, in tandem with the nation’s economic recovery from the impact of Covid-19,” Nizran added.

MajuPerak said Tenaga Danawa would build the office building and procure the state government’s approval to relocate its government agencies’ offices to the office building within the land.

The land, which is currently vacant, is located within developed areas such as Bandar Baru Tapah and Universiti Teknologi Mara’s Seri Iskandar campus.

Lagenda Properties said the relocation of the government agencies’ offices would further enhance the potential and demand for both its development in the land as well as UEM Sunrise Bhd’s Tapah land.

“These development projects strongly reflect the existing demand for affordable housing among consumers despite these challenging times,” Lagenda Properties managing director Datuk Doh Jee Ming said in a statement yesterday.

Just a month ago, Lagenda Properties acquired a 252ha land in Tapah from UEM Sunrise for the development of affordable housing, which is located just next to the land.

Together, Lagenda Properties will have a combined total development area of 345ha.

“The slated project is also aligned with our mission to continue providing affordable homes to Malaysians.

“We look forward to working with MajuPerak and hope to be involved in more affordable housing projects in near future,” Doh said.
