Tabung Haji declares 3.10pc profit distribution amounting to RM2.24b
KUALA LUMPUR: Tabung Haji (TH) has declared a 3.10 per cent profit distribution totalling RM2.24 billion for its financial year ended Dec 31 last year.
The pilgrims fund board said this was higher than the 3.05 per cent declared in 2019, which totalled RM2.14 billion.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said Tabung Haji’s financial performance remained positive last year despite uncertainties arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Alhamdulillah, Tabung Haji’s (nine million) depositors will be able to enjoy better profits despite the relatively soft economy last year,” he said in a statement yesterday.
“Tabung Haji needs to act in the best interest of its depositors and invest the funds wisely to ensure the sustainability of this institution.”
As at Feb 26, Tabung Haji’s total deposits reached RM76.7 billion — its highest ever — reflecting the confidence of depositors.
It also made a zakat payment amounting to RM106.2 million for last year compared with RM86 million in 2019. Therefore, depositors do not have to pay zakat on the savings and profit distribution received.
The zakat paid would benefit the asnaf community throughout the country, said the fund.
Tabung Haji said all transactions would be temporarily unavailable until noon today to facilitate the profit distribution process. Depositors may check their account balance thereafter through the THiJARI mobile application, Tabung Haji counters, and electronic platforms under the fund’s strategic partners, namely Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat, Malayan Banking Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd.
