Abdullah joins Media Prima as director

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd, Malaysia’s leading fully-integrated media group, has appointed Abdullah Abu Samah as its new independen­t non-executive director effective yesterday.

Group chairman Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid said the group was delighted to welcome Abdullah in his new role.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise across various fields. We trust that he will contribute greatly to the group moving forward,” said Syed Hussian.

Abdullah is currently a director on the board of Kulim (Malaysia) Bhd and chairman of Extreme Edge Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Kulim Malaysia.

He began his career with KPMG Malaysia in 1988. In 1993, he was seconded for two years to KPMG London to focus on the financial services sector.

He served as a partner in KPMG’s audit division from 1997 until his retirement last year.

He also served as an executive council member at KPMG Malaysia from 2014 to 2018.

Media Prima said Abdullah had more than 32 years of experience servicing clients from various industries and large multinatio­nal companies.

They included companies in the oil and gas, banking and finance, constructi­on and property developmen­t, hotel and hospitalit­y, palm oil plantation, manufactur­ing and trading sectors, it added.

Abdullah graduated with a Master’s of Business Administra­tion from the University of Washington in the United States.

He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountant­s and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountant­s.
