Civil Defence Force to give out vaccine info

-

JOHOR BARU: The reluctance by some people to be vaccinated against Covid-19 stems from erroneous information obtained from social media, said Johor Civil Defence Force director Colonel Kamal Mokhtar.

He said this was among the data gleaned in the course of their engagements with the public on the vaccine.

He said Johor Civil Defence Force personnel had been instructed to disseminate correct information on the vaccine so that more people would register for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).

“Most people we met said the reason they were afraid or refusing to be vaccinated against

Covid-19 was what they read on social media, information that usually turned out to be inaccurate or, more often than not, false.

“That is where we have to play our role to convey the correct information to these people. We also help them, especially the elderly, to register for the NIP.”

Kamal was commenting on a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof that 10,000 Civil Defence Force personnel would be deployed to

help with the registration for the NIP.

Kamal said 50 personnel in each district in Johor would be deployed to help in the initiative, which is underway.

He said 450 Civil Defence Force personnel in Johor were listed as vaccine recipients in Phase 1 of the NIP, which covered frontline workers.

“These are people directly involved in Covid-19 management, including those assigned at Covid-19 treatment centres and those transporting Covid-19 patients.”
