Cleansing made simple

A local beauty brand has come up with a facial cleansing pad that does a whole lot more, writes Syida Lizta Amirul Ihsan

ANYONE worth her supple face skin knows that a single cleansing routine isn’t enough. Make it a double if you use sunblock, triple if you wear make-up. First, use an oil cleanser on dry face because oil emulsifies oil. That should take care of the sunblock and dirt on the outer layer of the skin.

Then, use a gentle cleanser to cleanse more dirt, sebum and residue of sunblock. You might want to follow-up with an exfoliating cleanser for a natural glow.

Advertising graduate Fyra Hisham and digital marketing consultant Sarah Kajani are both into skincare and they concur that an efficient cleansing routine can be cumbersome.

Back when overseas travel was allowed, they kept facing the same problem — exceeding the liquid limit and having not enough space for skincare products they want to bring with them.

“One night, I realised that I have yet to see a product in the market that solves this issue — one that does the job of three items — and the concept for Squeaky Clean came to my mind,” Fyra says.

“The next day, I spoke to Sarah about it. Within a month, Skinfuel Beauty was born.

“We dived into it head-first, not really thinking if it would work. We focused on the problem and the brand we wanted to create — one that consumers can relate to and one that celebrates who they are,” she says.

COVERING ALL BASES

For now, Skinfuel Beauty’s only product is Squeaky Clean.

“It removes sunscreen, stubborn makeknow up, waterproof make-up, dirt and pollutants,” Sarah says.

“It also mildly exfoliates and cleanses your face. You can feel the difference on your skin immediately. It comes with tweezers and a pocket for your finger in case you didn’t wash your hands and don't want to dirty your face.”

For the ingredients, Fyra and Sarah made sure all the bases were covered.

“We want to create products which are heavily hydrating and moisturising.

“They have to fight bacteria and acne as well as reduce acne scars and hyperpigmentation. We also added in something that tightens skin.

“We focus on hydration and moisture because of Malaysia’s hot and humid climate. We also address ageing skin, acne, scarring and pigmentation because we people want to age gracefully and have that natural glow,” Sarah says.

Fyra adds: “We want to celebrate beauty, regardless of race, gender, skin condition or skin tone. We want to create effective, high-quality, cruelty-free, genderless skincare products.

“That’s why our first product isn’t part of a skincare line but a skincare hack. It delivers the best moisturising, antioxidant, anti-ageing superfood on skin in less than five minutes.”
