A perfect balance

- Syida Lizta Amirul Ihsan

IN January, Boss revealed two new fragrances, for him and for her. Called The Scent Pure Accord, each is unique but put them together and you know the scents are complementary.

The fragrance for him opens with notes of ginger, leading into a heart of exotic Maninka fruit.

A unique base note of sensual white suede brings the Eau de Toilette into a new olfactory territory, providing the perfect balance of warmth and light.

The light smell isn’t citrusy, which makes this scent memorable. The smell of ginger captures both freshness and smell of the Earth, making the first whiff of the fragrance masculine and memorable.

It stays on the skin for a long time too, making it a good daytime companion.

Packaging is minimal and classy, a transparent glass flacon with metallic cage, topped with a matching metallised cap, containing the light champagnecoloured scent.

SCENT FOR HER

To match the men’s fragrance, Boss The Scent Pure

Accord for her sparkles with top notes of bergamot and a luminous heart of sensual Osmanthus flower.

A base of enveloping musk completes the scent, seamlessly bringing together softness and strength.

Bergamot, or limau purut in Malay, is the perfect match to the scent of ginger because while it’s a citrus fruit, it has a robust scent. It’s sharp but sweet and the heart notes of musk helps give the scent body and staying power.

I like the bottle. It’s easy to hold and fits nicely in my hand. However, the shape reminds me of a hand grenade.

The packaging, in warm nude, gray, and champagne gold, exudes a sense of prestige.
