EMCO for Rumah Sewa Anong, Baverly Hills extended to March 25

The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) enforced on Rumah Sewa Anong and Rumah Sewa Baverly Hills in Bintulu, Sarawak, will be extended for another week until March 25.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO was originally scheduled to end today.

“The Health Ministry has so far held 1,407 Covid-19 screenings and recorded 85 positive cases.

“After carrying out risk assessment­s with various agencies and advice from the ministry, the government has agreed to extend the EMCO on Rumah Sewa Anong and Rumah Sewa Baverly Hills, Bintulu, Sarawak from March 19 to 25,” he said in a statement yesterday.

On violations of the standard operating procedures (SOP), Ismail Sabri said 43 people attempted to travel inter-state and inter-district without permission on Tuesday.

He also said out of 125 people who were arrested that day, 111 of them were slapped with compounds and 14 remanded during operations nationwide.

Among the offences, he said, were not wearing face masks (29), failure to provide equipment to register customers’ details (28), failure to maintain physical distancing (11), violating quarantine order (five), indulging in activities at entertainm­ent centres (one) and others (eight).

He said the SOP compliance task force conducted 69,452 checks on Tuesday, involving 3,743 teams with 15,974 personnel.

Checks were done on 6,325 restaurant­s, 4,759 supermarke­ts, 3,107 banks, 4,164 hawker stalls, 164 markets and pasar tani, 4,574 factories and 1,058 government offices (898).

“Also inspected were places of worship (257), recreation­al areas (18,014) as well as 3,278 land, 1,675 water and 1,457 air transport terminals.”

On Op Benteng, Ismail Sabri said authoritie­s detained 24 illegal immigrants and seized one land vehicle.

“During the operation, the authoritie­s also detected 30 vessels during seven surveillan­ce activities,” he said, adding that five foreigners attempting to cross Malaysian borders were also deported.

He said 88 sanitation operations had been carried out nationwide in 26 red zones, five orange zones, 10 yellow zones and five green zones on Tuesday.

Ismail Sabri also said 829 people arrived at the country’s entry points on Tuesday and were sent to the quarantine centres nationwide.

Since July 24 last year, 145,929 returnees were sent to 75 hotels, as well as 12 public training institutes and private education institutes for quarantine nationwide.

Of the total, he said, 7,014 people were quarantine­d, 138,835 allowed to return home and 1,050 sent to the hospital for treatment.

Ismail Sabri also said 3,567 foreign workers had undergone the mandatory Covid-19 screening on Tuesday, with 35 of them testing positive for Covid-19.

He said the Human Resources Ministry had recorded 627,010 foreign workers who had been screened so far, involving 32,425 employers.

“Of the total, 9,807 tested positive for Covid-19.”
