Takiyuddin: No need to form RCI to probe into IGP’s police cartel claim

-

KOTA BARU: Any problem involving the police force can be resolved through the Police Force Commission (SPP), including the claim by the inspector-general of police of the existence of a cartel in the force.

Minister in the Prime Minister ’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin

Hassan said there was no need to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the claims by Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

“As mentioned before by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, the establishment of an RCI is unnecessary as any internal problems within the police force will be handled by the commission.

“The minister is the chairman of the SPP and Abdul Hamid is also in the commission.

“Therefore, I believe all problems can be settled by the SPP so there’s no need for an RCI,” he told reporters after attending a Malaysia Prihatin programme here yesterday.

Hamid, in a recent interview, said he had learnt of the existence of the cartel seeking to bring him down and control the police force for its own purposes.

The top cop said the cartel also wanted to gain control of and dominate the security forces in the country to achieve its agenda. Hamzah subsequently contacted Hamid and urged him to submit a full report on his allegations.

He also asked Hamid to report the matter to the SPP, adding that as SPP chairman, the IGP had never brought the issue to the attention of the commission.
