COACH Frank Bernhardt out of favour at UiTM?

Fans believe that the German has been told to take a ‘rest’ after the university team went five matches without a win in the Super League.

In football, when a coach is “rested”, it means he is not in charge of the team for a match.

However, UiTM FC chief executive officer Mustaza Ahmad denied the speculation.

However, he admitted that the UiTM management had spoken to Bernhardt and given him some “advice”.

Mustaza said the coach will not be rested as there are 16 more games left.

“We offered him some ‘advice’ after the match against Kedah (UiTM lost 1-0) which was our best performance.

“We asked him to write a report because I think he’s feeling stressed with the players.

“I asked everyone not to panic because we still have 16 more games, and what’s important is for us to reach our target (undisclosed).”

UiTM have suffered three consecutive defeats: Terengganu (21), Kuala Lumpur City (1-0) and Johor Darul Ta’zim (4-0).

They next drew 0-0 with Penang, before losing 1-0 to Kedah at home on Saturday.

UiTM also lost their EnglishFilipino fullback Adam Reed who quit the squad a day before the Kedah match.

“He no longer wanted to play for UiTM, so why would we force him to stay?”

It is learnt that UiTM and Reed had consulted FAM on their parting of ways to avoid any contract dispute.

It is also learnt that Reed did not join the team when they played KL City on March 13 and gave an “excuse” for his absence.
