-

PUTRAJAYA: Sixty-eight per cent of Malaysians want to get the Covid-19 vaccine, according to statistics from the National Disaster Management Agency, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

According to the statistics, only 16 per cent of the population were unsure whether to get the Covid19 vaccine or not, he said.

“Our target is to get 80 per cent of the people vaccinated.

“As such information disseminated on the vaccination programme should be accurate so as not to create suspicion among the people, apart from seeking the cooperation of all parties to ensure the success of the programme.

“Correct information is important to ensure Malaysians feel confident about getting the vaccine,” he said after chairing a special National Disaster Management

Committee meeting here yesterday.

Redzuan said people should not worry about the Covid-19 vaccines used for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme as they have been approved by the National Pharmaceutical

Regulatory Agency.

“Everyone should cooperate with the government and get the vaccine.

“There is no need to choose which vaccine to get and everyone should get them when the vaccines are available.”

Redzuan said the Covid-19 Eradication Agency comprising volunteers would be set up to encourage and help people register for Covid-19 vaccination.

Besides that, District Disaster Management Committees have been told to activate Disaster Operation

Control Centres to act as war rooms to mobilise the Covid19 Eradication Agency.

“The Covid-19 Eradication Agency will manage vaccination registration and volunteers will be placed at district and state levels,” he said.
