Those fully vaccinated can travel interstate, abroad once they receive certificate of verification
MALAYSIANS who have been fully vaccinated for Covid-19 will not only be able to travel interstate but can also visit other countries, on the condition that they receive the certificate of verification, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said the government had discussed the matter with a number of countries to allow this privilege.
The certificate, he added, would prove that people had received the full Covid-19 doses, earning them the passport to travel.
“We have had discussions with the National Security Council on allowing those who have received the complete doses (of Covid-19 vaccine) to travel between districts and states without any objection from the authorities.
“In addition, with the certificate, they can travel to Japan, Shanghai (China), Hong Kong or Jakarta (Indonesia).”
Muhyiddin was responding to a question from Shelly Sheliza Ahmad, a participant at a townhall session on Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching yesterday.
The PM arrived here yesterday for a two-day working visit to the state.
He urged people to take the vaccine and not be worried about it.
Meanwhile, he said the federal government would evaluate all claims made by Sarawak, especially those involving the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He said Sarawak’s rights would continue to be protected based on the Constitution.
He said this commitment was shown by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government through the establishment of the portfolio on Sabah and Sarawak Affairs as well as the Special Council on MA63.
“The MA63 Special Council is studying matters related to Sarawak rights, with progress being made.
“The PN government is looking forward to improving federalstate relations based on mutual respect and understanding.”
Present were Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and other state leaders.
Muhyiddin said the government had for the past one year showed that it was committed to driving socio-economic development in all states, including Sarawak.
“For the First Rolling Plan 2021 of the 12th Malaysia Plan, 781 development projects have been approved, with a total allocation of RM4.5 billion for Sarawak to implement projects under various ministries and agencies.
“Among the projects being implemented in Sarawak are the Pan-Borneo Highway project, Mukah Airport upgrading, and Phase 1A of the Tanjung Manis Halal Hub Development project.”
He said the implementation of these projects would not only boost the economy, but also ensure the wellbeing of the people of Sarawak.
At an earlier event in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the 60th anniversary of RTM Orchestra yesterday, Muhyiddin said he wanted the organisation, which has been operating for more than seven decades, to continue creating milestones in the broadcasting and media industry.
“The slogan ‘RTM: Teman Setia Anda’ (your faithful companion) is synonymous and reflects the services that it provides to the people.
“However, RTM must also be bold in making changes so that its services remain fresh and relevant,” he said in his speech delivered virtually.
The celebration at Angkasapuri here was attended by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek and Broadcasting director-general Datuk Ruzain Idris.
Muhyiddin expressed hope that RTM would not be afraid to make changes in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and to use its expertise and experience to improve, sustain and develop its services.
