IGP: NEELOFA, HUSBAND TO BE COMPOUNDED IF S.O.P. VIOLATED
We will investigate whether it was part of business visit, says Hamid
A COMPOUND will be issued to celebrity Neelofa and husband Haris Ismail if it is found their recent visit to Langkawi breached the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the movement restriction order.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the interstate travel permission given to Neelofa, whose real name is Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor, 32, was only for work purposes.
However, he said, several photos shared by the entrepreneur, which went viral on social media, showed that the couple were having a holiday trip.
“If she fails to provide evidence, we will issue a compound against her.
“We will investigate whether it is part of her business visit,” he said.
“(Based on the photos), it looks like they were doing leisure activities, which are not allowed because she comes from a state that has been placed under the Conditional MCO.”
He said this after officiating at the K-9 Unit for the police’s Criminal Investigation Department Langkawi Technical Assistance Division, which was also attended by Kedah police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan, here yesterday.
Hamid said police were being fair and not practising double standards in taking action over any violation of the SOP set by the government.
In another development, Hamid said police were tracking the location of cosmetics entrepreneur Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruzzaman, better known as Nur Sajat.
He said there were several challenges faced by the police in tracking down Sajjad, who was abroad, such as the existence of rat trails to cross the country’s borders.
“He is still hiding... sooner or later he will return home. He is not facing a serious charge, so I urge him to come back and go to court,” he said.
