Replace BN election director, says Umno Youth leader
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth exco member Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin is calling for Barisan Nasional (BN) election director Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman to be replaced immediately.
He claimed that the BN director did not know how to manage the coalition’s 15th General Election (GE15) machinery.
Instead, Muqharabbin said the Umno Supreme Working Council member was causing disunity at the BN’s divisional level and failed to make any contribution.
“When he went to Lembah Pantai and Tangga Batu (parliamentary constituencies), his remarks were not about the coalition’s (BN) strategy. Instead, there was just a lot of empty talk and (he) did not aid the machinery,” Muqharabbin said in a statement yesterday.
Tajuddin was appointed by the Umno president as the BN’s GE15 election director last November.
At the same time, Muqharabbin also slammed Tajuddin’s statement in an interview with a portal, where he alleged that Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin did not help in any by-elections involving BN.
“I saw Khairy come and go in every by-election as well as helping out BN candidates.
“He focused on where the ceramah was taking place and was not present only where the Muafakat Nasional ceramah events were taking place.
“That too, it was not because he didn’t want to attend. Each of them had a role to play in the byelections,” he explained.
Muqharabbin, who is also Lembah Pantai Umno Youth chief, said he had received a lot of negative feedback from the people on BN.
“Yes, many miss BN, but they do not like the attitude and the look of the old leaders. It is not that they are not commendable for what they had done, but the people want BN to present new, more credible candidates for a GE15 victory,” he said.
He also called on the Umno president to be brave and nominate new faces for GE15.
“I believe, if the president dares to do this, he will be the source of BN’s success in GE15 and will be honoured as a true hero of Umno,” he said.
