Raya Airways adds Boeing 767-200F aircraft to fleet
KUALA LUMPUR: Raya Airways Sdn Bhd aims to increase its capacity and boost efficiency with the new addition of a Boeing 767200F, the fourth aircraft in the air freighter’s fleet.
Managing director Mohamad Najib Ishak said the aircraft would unlock the company’s network expansion opportunities and provide the capacity to increase its flight frequency while improving connectivity to and from Malaysia.
“Raya is committed to serving as one of the key enablers in the supply chain ecosystem, which reflects our unique position in transporting goods requiring a high level of speed, reliability, and security for our customers,” he said in a statement yesterday.
With the newest addition, Raya Airways’ total fleet size has increased to four aircraft comprising two units of the B767-200F and one unit for B737-400F aircraft.
Najib said the accelerated growth of e-commerce had reshaped the company’s commitment to anticipate and respond to the evolving needs of its customers and expand its footprint in the region.
“With the added capacity, we are steadfast to continually extend our time-definite services to more destinations within Asean and potentially across Asia Pacific.
“Our regional network currently consists of over 70 commercial flights per week, where capital cities and other major business centres are interconnected,” he said.
The induction of new aircraft is part of Raya Airways’ long-term re-fleeting exercise, which will contribute towards reducing operational cost for maintenance and crew training.
The newly-inducted aircraft has a load capacity of about 40 tonnes with 5,500km flying range.
The aircraft was delivered from Wilmington Air Park Airport in the United States and landed at 9.40pm at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor, on Tuesday.
