IGP: NICKY LIOW STILL IN MALAYSIA
Those in his network have all been arrested, says top cop
POLICE believe that wanted fugitive businessman Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee is still in the country. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said he was confident that the special team led by Johor state police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay would solve the case soon.
He said this was because members of the organised crime group, including Liow’s brothers, had been arrested and charged in court.
“He is believed to be still (hiding) in Malaysia because those in his network have all been arrested and I am confident that the task force will diligently review the information that was shared.
“This is a serious matter, not a drama or a movie. We are committed in combating such activities.”
He said this at a press conference during the 7th series Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah meeting here yesterday.
Also present were Peninsular Malaysia Wildlife and National Parks Department director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim and Customs directorgeneral Datuk Seri Abdul Latif Abdul Kadir.
Hamid said police had previously said the Winner Dynasty Group founder was a wanted person and those protecting him would also be brought to justice.
“We have declared that he is a wanted person and hence those protecting him or deliberately withholding his whereabouts will also face justice.”
Commenting on cosmetics entrepreneur Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruz Zaman, he said police would share information with the public on how he escaped as soon as he returned to Malaysia.
“The Criminal Investigation Department is aware of the matter.
“InsyaAllah, when he is back, we will reveal it to the media.
“There is no point running away and hiding as Ramadan is around the corner. So, come back. It’s tough out there. Is there a Ramadan bazaar?”
