Army camp gets funds for upgrade, repairs
KOTA TINGGI: The government has approved an allocation to upgrade the facilities at the Army Combat Training Centre (Pulada) in Ulu Tiram here.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the allocations were approved based on the need to ensure that the armed forces’ readiness was at the highest level, besides focusing on the welfare of personnel.
He said visits to selected military camps every two weeks enabled him to review and consider assistance that could be channelled to them.
“At every camp, we will approve allocations based on need. If it can be done immediately then the government will do it. At Pulada, several applications were made during the briefing.
“This includes upgrading the accommodations, involving an allocation of RM340,000, and an urgent need to repair the mosque’s leaking roof, with an allocation of RM1 million.
“We will also propose an allocation to upgrade the fence at the camp in next year’s budget.
“Although people are afraid to enter without approval, it still needs to be upgraded with an allocation of RM2 million,” said Ismail Sabri after a working visit to Pulada here on Saturday.
Present were Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Muez Abd Aziz and Army chief General Tan Sri Zambrose Mohd Zain.
During the programme, guests were also treated to a demonstration of the competency of three war dogs. A charity visit with army personnel was also conducted.
During the visit, Ismail Sabri also presented aid to families of army personnel.
Among the recipients were Sergeant Joy Rendy Ujoi and his wife Susanie Samangin, whose son Jizzale Ally, 10, suffers from cerebral palsy.
“It is meaningful for us that Datuk Seri (Ismail Sabri) is able to meet my son during his visit.
“This contribution will help to lessen our burden as he needs to go for treatment four times a month, including for physiotherapy,” said Susanie, adding that Jizzale was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was 9 months old.
Ismail Sabri also presented a contribution to Staff Sergeant Haryana Jistar, whose son Samuel Aldine, 10, suffers from hearing difficulties.
