Bangkit 15 halts throughout Ramadan

-

JOHOR BARU: The Bangkit 15 programme, Umno’s preparation and training platform to face the 15th General Election, will be temporarily halted during Ramadan and will continue after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Johor was the eighth and last state where the programme was held before Ramadan started.

He said the programme would continue in Sabah, Kelantan, Penang and Terengganu after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“The Bangkit 15 programme began on March 12 in Perlis and Kedah, followed by Federal Territory, Selangor, Perak, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

“Johor is the last state where the programme is held before Ramadan, before it is held in the other four states after Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” said Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno’s Training and Cadreship Bureau chairman.

He said after the programme, the party would evaluate how effective its preparation was in facing the next general election.

“For now, the training and preparation involves aspects like preparation before the election, during voting and after the election,” said Ismail Sabri.

He was speaking after officiating the Bangkit 15 programme at a hotel here on Saturday.

Also present were Umno vicepresident Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Johor Umno deputy chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

Bangkit 15 is an Umno training platform with the “train the trainers” concept, where the leadership would go to their divisions to train members at the branch level in preparation for the party’s machinery to face the election.

The training includes every aspect before, during and after the election in order to ensure that Umno’s machinery is at the optimum level at all times.

Ismail Sabri also said Johor Umno needed to win more seats in the next general election.

He said as the birthplace of the party, Johor Umno needed to rise and dominate the government.

“Johor has always been a stronghold for Umno.

“As we know, Umno was established in Johor, so Johor Umno needs to rise and dominate the government again.

“Even though Umno is currently leading the government in Johor, we believe Umno will record a bigger win in the state in the next general election,” said Ismail Sabri.
