Mother of two stabbed to death by 23-year-old ‘boyfriend’

A31-year-old woman died after she was stabbed by a man believed to be her boyfriend at her home in Taman Perpaduan, Tambun here on Wednesday night. Perak Criminal Investigat­ions Department chief Senior Assistant Commission­er Anuar Othman said the 23-year-old man was believed to have stabbed the victim, K. Krishna in the chest several times with a knife.

Anuar said police received a phone call from the woman’s neighbour at 8.45pm saying there was a commotion between the woman and the man.

“When a team of policemen arrived at her home, they found both of them laying next to each other in a pool of blood. There were several stab wounds on the woman’s body as well as the man’s.

“The man was still alive and was rushed to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment,” he said when met at the scene.

Anuar said when the incident occurred, the victim and the man were in the house with the woman’s two sons aged 6 and 8. However, none of the children were injured.

“Further checks revealed that the woman had lodged several police report against the man for breaking into her home and often bothering her.

“Police had also arrested the man previously and the latest was on March 15 for breaking into the woman’s home,” he said.

Anuar added that police were in the midst of investigat­ing whether the man tried to kill himself by stabbing his chest or if the woman had stabbed him.

“We will investigat­e and record statements from the witnesses, including the woman’s children who saw the incident.”

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 302 for murder, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
