Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the National Security Council had agreed not to extend the EMCO in the sub-districts involved.

The decision was made following an assessment by the Health Ministry on the situation.

The 34 sub-districts were placed under EMCO since July 3.

Ismail Sabri said the government also agreed to end the EMCO at eight localities in Kedah, Sabah, Penang and Negri Sembilan as scheduled today.

“A total of 404 people were issued compounds, while the remaining have been remanded.”

“The teams inspected 2,309 factories, 14,237 business premises, 833 construction sites and 322 workers’ hostels,” he said, adding that 65 premises that flouted the SOP were ordered to close.

He said the authorities had tightened enforcement on factories and business premises as they were among the highest contributors to new Covid-19 cases.

On Op Benteng, Ismail Sabri said the authorities arrested 57 undocumented migrants and seized nine land vehicles at the borders.

Enforcement agencies mounted 890 roadblocks nationwide under Op Penawar and Op Benteng to ensure SOP compliance.
