Online learning continues for all public and private schools until Aug 31

KUALA LUMPUR: Schools will reopen in stages for physical teaching and learning sessions from Sept 1 after taking into consideration the vaccination rate.

The Education Ministry said more details of physical classes would be announced at least a week before the school session started.

“This applies to all public schools, government-assisted schools, private schools and academic institutions registered under the ministry.”

The ministry said it had been collaborating with the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force to expedite the immunisation programme for teachers, academic institution administrators and support staff.

“Up to Friday, 61.3 per cent or 253,366 teachers and administrators, as well as 10,876 (46.33 per cent) support staff have received their first dose of the vaccine.

“The ministry will continue to be informed on the Covid-19 risk evaluation by National Security Council (NSC) and the Health Ministry if there is a need to change the dates for the classes, and any change will be announced early.

“Based on the NSC and Health Ministry’s advice on the Covid-19 situation, home-based teaching and learning will continue until Aug 31.”

On July 4, Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said students in Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, which had transitioned into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan, would continue with their home-based teaching and learning until the mid-term holidays.

He said information about the operations of schools for the session starting on July 25 would be announced at least a week before that date.
