More RiVAC centres in Klang Valley to boost Op Surge Capacity

-

PUTRAJAYA: More vaccination centres for the retail industry under the Retail Industry Vaccination Programme (RiVAC) will be opened to boost Operation Surge Capacity in the Klang Valley.

The existing first RiVAC centre at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre could inoculate 31,500 daily, and four more centres would be established to fully vaccinate 105,000 workers from the retail sector by the end of next month.

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, in a statement, said the additional four RiVAC centres were at IOI City Tower here, Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre in Bandar Utama, Centro Mall in Klang and AEON Mall in Nilai, Negri Sembilan.

The new RiVAC centres would be opened from July 26, while the opening date of the AEON Mall RiVAC centre in Nilai would be announced in due time.

Each of the new RiVAC centres would be able to cater to 21,000 workers, it said.

“The establishment of more vaccination centres will expedite Operation Surge Capacity to vaccinate with at least one dose for 100 per cent of Klang Valley residents.

“Vaccination is the solution and catalyst for the success of the National Recovery Plan (NRP),” the ministry said yesterday.

It urged all retail companies, including supermarkets, groceries, petrol stations, restaurants, workshops, hardware shops, barbershops and others, to join RiVAC for vaccination as soon as possible.

The ministry was also considering having all the employees of a company vaccinated as one of the pre-requisites for the company’s operating approval during the NRP.

Registration and information on RiVAC may be accessed at https://rov.kpdnhep.gov.my/rov or by contacting the Secretariat of Trade Distribution and Services Industry at 03-8882 5881/ 5905.
